The work of the internationally renowned Mallorcan artist Albert Pinya (1985) reworks an imagery drawn from contemporary pop art to which he adds his own characters, themes and techniques. Pinya’s drawings, paintings, ceramics and installations connect with a certain Miró ingenuousness and a vital attitude that we can interpret as “Mediterranean” where schematism, vibrant colors and shared rituals meet the traditions of numerous overlapping cultures.
“Towards a new paradigm”, chosen as the image of the 2023 edition of Drawing Room Lisboa, belongs to a series of drawings that invent creative situations full of fantasy. Colored balloons emerge from a black hole to provoke surprise, mystery and other emotions This theme appears in the artist’s work to honor the late Balearic poet Antoni Artigues.
