Catarina Marques Domingues (Portugal, 1987) works with drawing, photography, video, and performance, observing all that the nature surrounding her mountain studio proposes: earth, water, vivid matter. Her work reflects on the feminine as openness and birth. The images testify to the awareness that the body we are does not belong to us—a body pierced by the joy of being in the present.
For this edition of Drawing Room, we present a selection of drawings from the series Promessas (Promises). Each one carries within it an ode to life: “May each drawing, as it happens, promise me to life.” These works evoke aquatic places, reflections of a body that longs to be ardent, ignited by the combustion of waters externalized through drawing.
