Beatriz Brum (Lagoa, Azores, 1993) develops her works on acetate or acrylic surfaces, focusing her research on light as matter that, through the works, creates colour overlays and reflections.
In its geographical territory, the contour lines of the volcanic lagoons of the island of São Miguel are highlighted, where she lives.
The flatness of the surface of the water and the line containing it deviates from the rigor of cartography and presents an organic and poetic expression. That’s why the recurring forms of her work are oval and her referent is Google images. Drawing a personal representation, it also adds a selection of near-fluorescent colours, enhanced by the presentation in light boxes.
