Catarina Branco (Ponta Delgada, 1974) is an artist who uses paper both as a support and as the material of her sculptures, as in “As Alminhas” and “Dádiva”, presented in the gardens of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in 2013, and at Arquipélago – Center for Contemporary Arts, in 2017. Still within this language, she developed the project “Capachos”, reinterpreting the popular tradition of the Azores, shown in Madrid, Recife (Brazil), and Lisbon, as well as the drawings titled “Land(Escape)”, exhibited in Ponta Delgada.

In this edition of the Drawing Room fair, Catarina Branco will present acrylic drawings on paper from the series “As plantas do meu Jardim” (The Plants of My Garden) and three-dimensional works that announce a new series of exercises in which the “grid” dominates the object’s surface.
