Mané Pacheco (Portugal, 1978) studied and worked in the field of Nature Conservation before joining FBAUL, where she graduated in Multimedia Art with Merit Award from the University of Lisbon and received the BPI/FBAUL award (2010). Her areas of study—art and the environment—converge in a body of work centered around post-extractivism. Through the materials she selects and transforms (often industrial waste or natural elements found), she recontextualizes the biological, physiological, and ecopolitical meaning of organisms and their social organization, speculating on evolutionary reconfigurations.
