Maria Durão (Fão, 1999) lives and works in Porto. She studied Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, and since then has developed her artistic work in the fields of painting, collage, photography, and performance. Her work has been presented at art fairs such as the Drawing Room Fair and the Arco Fair, in group exhibitions such as The Body Borrows a Revolver (Casa das Artes / Sismógrafo) and is part of collections such as the Lisbon City Council Collection, Norlinda and José Lima, EDP Foundation, and PLMJ Foundation. Her work is divided between painting, drawing, collage, and photography, provoking rare encounters between words and forms, a crossroads of different languages that blend in a single place and represent everyday life while simultaneously distancing themselves from it. Her work is marked by the use of the book and all it represents; by its fragile nature, constantly changing, damaged, forgotten, and destroyed.
