Nuno Ramalho
Nuno Ramalho (1975) uses diverse media, including drawing, sculpture, installation, moving image and photography, to focus his attention fundamentally on artistic work – on those who produce, animate and capitalise on it, on what gives it form and value in the present.
In this series of works, the disruptive and sometimes violent dynamics of recent times are at play – understood not as a direct reference for a “critical” or “analytical” response, but rather as an attempt to explore the hypothesis of artistic language as a possibility of counterpoint and difference, affirming the political dimension (sometimes conveniently suppressed) of so-called more abstract plastic expressions.
