Drawing Room Lisboa ended its 7th edition last Sunday with more than 5 thousand visitors, including professionals, school and university students and the general public.
The contemporary art fair dedicated to drawing took place from October 23rd to 27th and was attended by 26 national and international galleries, representing around 70 artists and, together with its partners, also scheduled talks and launches, and awarded 6 prizes: FLAD Drawing Prize for artist Rosa Baptista; Fundação Millennium bcp Award – Outstanding Artistic Project for artist Cristina Lamas represented by Galeria 111; Millennium bcp Foundation Acquisition Prize – Emerging Talent for artist Ana Velez from Galeria Belo Galsterer; Fundação Millennium bcp Award – Galeria Curatorial Project for Galeria 3+1; Viarco New Talent Drawing Award for Katarzyna Pacholik represented by Galería Silvestre; National Press Acquisition Prize for artists Fernanda Fragateiro represented by Galeria Filomena Soares, Rodrigo Oliveira from Balcony – Contemporary Art Gallery and Samuel Rama from Galeria 111; and the Ângelo & Damião Acquisition Prize awarded to artist Carlos Alexandre Rodrigues represented by Salgadeiras Arte Contemporânea.
The Lisbon City Council, under the plan of its Contemporary Art Acquisition Fund, acquired at the Fair a work by the artist Rita Gaspar Vieira, represented by Galeria das Salgadeiras, and another by Pedro Pascoinho, an artist represented by Galeria No-No. These acquisitions reinforce the historic partnership that Drawing Room has maintained with CML since its first edition. The Lisbon City Council purchasing committee was made up of Sara Antónia Matos, Pedro Faro, Ana Anacleto, Nuno Crespo and Joana Monteiro
Also in this edition, over the four days of the fair, as part of the Millennium Art Talks, 42 artists, curators, collectors, university professors and museum directors participated.
“We are very pleased with the outcome of the latest edition of Drawing Room Lisboa, which was marked by numerous acquisitions from individuals who begin or continue their beloved art collections.”, says the fair’s director, Mónica Alvarez Careaga.
