ANTÓNIO NEVES NOBRE

Portugal, 1992

3+1 ARTE CONTEMPORÂNEA

António Neves Nobre’s drawings are the result of a process in which the media that act on paper remain undefined. This lack of definition in technical circles is one of the axes on which his artistic practice is based. Images are created from procedures that remain unrecognizable.
In the case of the drawings presented, the graphite marks inscribed on the paper create zones of force with different densities. Instead of traditional media, it is the hands in contact with the material – graphite and paper – that draw. A drawing is generated in which the body itself is responsible for the depth reached by vision, in the case of an exercise in which illusion establishes a deep dialogue with the notion of tension
