CAROLINA SERRANO

Portugal, 1994

The sculptural dimension of Carolina Serrano’s work aims to inquire about the possible ways of using time as material, exploring the theoretical, conceptual and material possibilities of black paraffin in relation to fire. This element, fire, is very present in her invisible drawings / wall sculptures.

This fire, which is depicted on the paraffin leaves, can only be seen if the viewer finds the right inclination to discern it, in a metaphorical and physical search for light, for what this fire can mean. Basically, it points to the viewer’s participation in the process of delineating the various drawings / sculptures that are presented in confrontation with all other medial supports presented.
