For Catarina Patrício (Lisbon, 1980) her drawings are result of the tension that emerges by cutting and assembling images and text – quotations to cinema are frequent, creating juxtaposition of frames from different cult films. The cut up technique – a reference to Dada exercises – reconfigures new sequences almost as in a prophetic attitude towards the present (William Burroughs e Brion Gysin [1978]. She develops activity between artistic practice, that is, teaching and research in contemporary culture. She has a degree in Communication Sciences and a master’s degree in anthropology from FCSH Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2014), with specialization in post-documentation (2020). Graduated in painting by the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon in 2003.
