Clara Leitão

ARTE PERIFÉRICA

Clara Leitão (Portugal, 1995). When we reread a story from our childhood we find new meanings that were previously unknown to us. The characters’ tragedies, fears, trials, the creatures they fall in love with, or the friends who turn out to be monsters: all these dark aspects are revealed by our adult understanding.
We wonder, disturbed, how such stories could have been written for children. This is the magic of fables, tales and myths. If on the one hand they tell us about hidden worlds, magical situations or characters, on the other hand they reflect the deepest human questions and concerns, individual and collective.
