GABRIELA MACHADO
Brasil, 1960
Gabriela Machado has been developing an artistic practice centred on painting, developing work in other media as an extension of this research. Gabriela Machado’s drawings convey the concerns shared with her body of work in painting – it is about capturing a moment, an instant of the body placed on paper.
The movement implied in her work is that of a wide and fast brushstroke that seems to want to capture the world at the speed of a pulse. The large formats presented are the result of the artist’s experience, bringing to the drawing the lively quality of the presence of her body in action. It is the gesture in tune with the totality of the body that weaves the lines of her drawings.
