PITT STUDIO

John Robinson was born in Worcester UK in 1981 and studied art at Falmouth University and Byam Shaw school of art in London.
The artist´s work is about how to paint a figure. Frequently myself. I want to revisit the popular theme of self portraiture and do it in a new way.

The work is often quite small scale and is executed in raw umber on canvases. He has lived in Madrid for a few years, initially as artist in residence at the Prado Museum and inspired by the dark spaces of Goya and the allegories of Velazquez. The artist wants his pictures to be as dark allegories of psychological states, but that can be fun too.

John Robinson’s work can be found in public collections around the world.
