He studied Painting in the Fine Arts Faculty, University of Lisbon.
He began his career in the eighties with solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad, namely in Spain and Austria.
José Loureiro is an artist who has developed his body of work within the frontiers of painting, in a time when painting was said to be condemned to disappear. He is influenced by Literature and Philosophy.
José Loureiro was awarded for the best exhibition in Lisbon of 2019, by the AICA, with the exhibition “A Vocação dos Ácaros” (The vocation of Mites).
