LOLA BERENGUER
El Ejido, Almería, Spain, 1965
Presented by RUÍZ LINARES
Berenguer is showing a series of works on paper called Como los círculos que encuentro, plus one large graphite drawing on paper.
The series is based on the form of the circle, which is always present though never fully drawn. Lines and other simple forms, or softly colored spaces, obstruct their completion while forming new compositions. A curious, harmonious balance is achieved by the careful distribution of elements. The paper is very carefully prepared with a personal technique that includes marble dust, acrylic, etc. and brings warmth to the compositions.
The large drawing, called Leyes en papel, is an impressive drawing made with a fine technique and, as usual for this artist, with very subtle and delicate details. The composition may be related to the profound mystery of its proportions.
