Mafalda Santos
Mafalda Santos (Porto, Portugal, 1980) has a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto (2004). Between 2002 and 2007, together with artists André Sousa and Miguel Carneiro, she was the programmer of the PêSSEGOpráSEMANA space, in Porto, an independent exhibition space dedicated to visual arts, performance, video and musical projects. In 2007/2008 she received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation at the Location One artistic residency in New York. In 2007, she was one of those nominated for the EDP Young Artists Award and, in 2005, one of those selected for the exhibition “7 artists at the 10th month”, at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
She has exhibited individually and collectively in several institutions, including the Museu Colecção Berardo, in Lisbon; the Deer Room, at the Natural History Museum, in Lisbon; the Plataforma Revólver, in Lisbon; the Elvas Museum of Contemporary Art; the Marcelino Botín Foundation, in Santander; MUDAM – Center D’art Moderne Gran-Duc Jean, in Luxembourg; the Vila Flor Cultural Center, in Guimarães, among others.
His works are represented in several public and private collections, Portuguese and foreign, among which we can highlight the Fundação Ilídio Pinho, RAR, Fundação EDP, Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, Câmara Municipal do Porto, Norlinda and José Lima Collection, among others.
