MARIANA BARROTE
Mariana Barrote’s (1986) artistic research mainly unfolds in drawings, paintings, videos and small objects, articulated in the construction of narratives and visual poetics. The different media she uses allow drawing, as the first matrix, to expand transdisciplinarily, amplifying the heterogeneous nature of each of these means of expression and reflection. Full of primitive, carnal and symbolic allusions, her drawing practice refers to the human body, often anatomically disfigured through excessive movements, existing between the human and the divinized. These characters with mythological contours populate her works on paper as visual metaphors and the result of a work of great formal and plastic experimentalism.
