Primarily developing his work around drawing and painting, Ricardo Angélico‘s (Cuíto, Angola, 1973) focuses on creating individual compositions with imaginary figures and more or less subversive connections between a multitude of references, not only to cinematic or literary works but also to events or aspects of the culture itself, incorporating them into multiple disconnected narrative fragments, whose connections are not evident. The artist graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto. He has been showcasing his work since 1995. Notable exhibitions include “Peças para uma máquina do tempo perdido,” “Play,” “Freak Out,” “There will be no safety zone,” and “The Aronburg Mystery” (Carlos Carvalho Arte Contemporânea, 2024, 2019, 2013, 2011, 2009), “O Desenho Dito” (Casa da Cerca – Centro de Arte Contemporânea, Almada, Portugal, 2008), “À volta do papel” (Centro de Arte Manuel de Brito, Algés, Portugal, 2008), and “100 artistas, Acervo. Artistas Portugueses en la Colección Navacerrada” (Centro de Arte Alcobendas, Alcobendas, Spain, 2015). He is represented in various collections such as Culturgest, Lisbon, Portugal; Fundação PLMJ, Lisbon, Portugal; Centro de Arte Manuel de Brito, Algés, Portugal; Colección Navacerrada, Alcobendas, Spain; and Ayuntamiento de Pamplona, Pamplona, Spain.
