SÃO MAMEDE

The artist explores drawing in her work as a reflection on the conception of nothingness, on the abstract matter that makes up the body of moments between moments. The Empty series translates the process by which thought travels through the invisible universe, between repeated patterns, shapes and lines, so that the visible appears. Their relationship is the pure materialization of improbable encounters. Primordial interior contemplation, without a name, designed by what is represented and by who patents it.
The artist completed her Master with the thesis theme “Drawing as Meditation. O Olhar que Contempla (the Gaze that contemplates)”at IADE in 2010. She was a drawing teacher at SNBA (1991) and has been a drawing trainer at Nextart in Lisbon since 2007.
