TERESA ESGAIO
Portugal, 1985
Portuguese visual artist Teresa Esgaio (1985) likes drawing. A lot. With a degree in Multimedia Arts from Lisbon’s Faculty of Fine Arts and experience in working with video and photography, she spent a few years labouring full-time in advertising until she took the plunge and decided to focus on her life’s passion. Employing materials such as graphite, charcoal and soft pastels, Teresa likes playing with textures and the delicate contrast of light and shade, creating striking, highly detailed photorealistic works that have been receiving much public and critical attention. She has been exhibiting her work in solo and group exhibitions since 2015.
