Daniel V. Melim (Coimbra, 1982) is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Lisbon.
His work exists at the intersection of ancestral influences and contemporary challenges. He frequently revisits practices from the ancient culture of Madeira, the region where he grew up. Throughout his artistic career, Melim has explored various forms of expression, such as music, performance, and poetry, which often intertwine with his painting. As a figurative painter, he skillfully employs a variety of techniques and mediums, with a particular emphasis on oil on canvas and wood, as well as acrylic on glass.
He graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon in 2006 and completed a master’s degree at Goldsmiths College, University of London, in 2016, supported by a scholarship from the Gulbenkian Foundation.
