Emilio González Sainz (Spain, 1954) lives a life split between his walks and his frequentation of books, maps and stories. Split and fluid, because he seems to see the cliffs with Friedrich’s eyes, but also, when he looks at paintings, it seems as if he were walking through them, breathing in aromas and sounds. A life in painting.
Without a doubt his work is based on values, and today, another must be added that is more intangible, possibly for the majority, but not for those who in some way have had the fortune of accompanying him during these years, and that is none other than the certainty of someone who knows well what he is doing, and that enables him to enjoy his painting, to the point of going out for a walk through his own works. Emilio González Sainz enters and leaves landscapes that, in addition to being common to many of his masters, are his own. He paints things and places that he knows, along with those that he does not know but imagines. He describes places he has lived in or at least known, as well as those that are absolutely unknown to him.
