In Irene Gonzalez’s work, time reflected in the subtle variations generated by light acts as a creative motor of a spatio-temporal dimension.
In her drawings, the artist makes us perceive a rebellion against today’s society in favour of slow times. The absent, the fragmentary, the empty, the hidden, the mysterious, the light, the melancholic and the repetition are recurring themes in her works, where the abstraction of the everyday and the banal is manifested.
The artist invites us to suspect what happens around the drawing, or a moment before or after what she reveals in her work.
