After finishing the series on the seven deadly sins, Isabelle Faria has developed a new cycle of works on the seven virtues where she continues to explore the possibilities of producing images through drawing.
For this edition of Drawingroom, in which she is working on the 4th virtue – Hope, she is presenting a new body of work on the Pinhal do Rei, which burned down in 2017.
For the artist, these drawings are the result of contemplating the destroyed nature of Pinhal do Rei, in Vieira de Leiria, the region where she lived, and are “a burnt landscape that is still beautiful.
Unique and special pine trees in this area that gives me so much. Snake pines, pines that twist in the wind. But the force of nature is my hope of restoring what today is still empty space”.
