LENNIN VÁSQUEZ, author of the work selected as the image for the 2026 edition of DRAWING ROOM LISBOA

The Peruvian artist, Lennin Vásquez Concha (Junín, 1978), graduated from the National Autonomous School of Fine Arts of Peru, where he received the Gold Medal in drawing. Vásquez constructs a contemporary imaginary, with a surrealist inclination, in which his characters—leaves, fish, bodies, architectural forms, and atmospheres—interact by chance; they meet, overlap, and transform, giving rise to new images that gain autonomy within the drawing itself.

Represented by the Marissi Campos gallery at DRAWING ROOM LISBOA 2026, the artist participates in this edition with the series “Habitar el silencio” (Inhabiting Silence). Vásquez has held numerous exhibitions both in his home country and abroad, and his work is part of public and private collections, including that of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Santiago, Chile, among others.

“Silent Dialogues” is the work selected as the image for this year’s edition of DRAWING ROOM LISBON. In it, the artist conceives of drawing on paper as an autonomous space of creation; the paper ceases to be a passive support and becomes a field where memory, intuition, chance, and transformation converge to reveal the hidden, simultaneously preserving a sense of mystery and the fascination of discovery.
