ANTÓNIO SENA
Lisbon, Portugal, 1941
It is impossible to disassociate the drawing practice from the work of António Sena. Known for his abstract compositions, António Sena’s work is an allusion to the genesis of calligraphy, incorporating various stains and graffiti in sharp chromatic tension and rhythms that explore writing as drawing and the limits of painting.
His work has been featured in several exhibitions at key museums, including the Museu Coleção Berardo and the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art.
